Assignment #6 (due 1.7)

Please bring a soil sample from home to class on 1.7. Your sample should be transported in a small bag or container, and should be taken from the earth (as opposed to a flower pot or commercial bag of soil). If you do not have a yard at home, find a sample as close to your home as possible (e.g. a neighbor's yard, park...etc.).

To collect your sample:
  1. Remove the first 4-6 inches of earth with a small shovel or large spoon (or some other digging device).
  2. Collect a 1/2 cup sample from this secondary layer of earth. Please be as accurate with your measurement as possible.
  3. Be sure your bag/container is sealed; bring your sample to class on Monday, January 7th.
***NOTE: Assignment #5 was the barnacle lab data table and procedure your group turned in last week.***
