Assignment #21.5 (due 3.1)

To participate in tomorrow's water quality testing, you must be dressed appropriately for cold, damp weather. Weather-permitting, we will spend part of the morning outside. Please be sure you have the following:
  • Warm, waterproof shoes (insulated rain boots, waders, hiking boots...etc.)
  • Warm layers (hat, gloves, warm socks, thermal layers)
  • Rain gear
  • Dry change of clothes for our return to school
  • Water bottle

Assignment #21 (due 2.28)


Please create a comic strip about the rock cycle. You can use the handout from class, or make your own design. Your comic strip must:
  1. be neat.
  2. be in color.
  3. include the following terms: METAMORPHIC, SEDIMENTARY, IGNEOUS, ROCK, HEAT, PRESSURE, WEATHERING, EROSION, MELTING, COMPACTION, CEMENTATION.

Also--be sure to bring your Rock Cycle Dice Activity data sheet from today to class on 2.28 AND share the cool LRO vid we watched with your peeps!

Please be sure you have completed your copy of the Rock Cycle WebQuest for class on Monday--pages 1-3 only, as the link on page 4 is faulty. You should have most of this assignment finished already--simply check to be sure you have answered all questions.

Please complete the Rock Cycle Review Question Handout (links to Page 1 and Page 2 can be found here) for tomorrow--you can use THIS ROCK CYCLE DIAGRAM for help. Do your best. We will review the answers in class together. Also, be sure you have your copy of the Rock Cycle WebQuest in your science binder for tomorrow.

NOTE: Please remember I will not be at NOVA tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday. Mrs. Smith will be here to help with my classes so I can attend a conference in San Francisco. I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend--see you next Wednesday!

  2. Please find a rock (not mineral) outside your house to bring as a testing sample for our lab on Wednesday. Your rock should be between the size of a ping pong ball and your fist.
