Assignment #19 (due 11.17)

Please complete Part 2 of the Independent Barnacle Investigation handout from today's lab. The instructions are also listed below. Bring your finished assignment (typed!) and copy of the handout back to class on 11.17.

PART 2: Please address the following prompts on a separate sheet of paper using complete sentences. Your responses should be typed. NOTE: While you worked with a group on this investigation, this is assignment should be completed independently.

1. List the materials your group used in the Independent Barnacle Investigation. This section of the assignment should be titled “Materials”.
2. List the steps your group used in the Independent Barnacle Investigation. Please be as thorough as possible, including as much detail as you can remember. Include quantities and units of measurement. Leave no stone un-turned!! Design your list of steps so that another 6th grade student who has never completed this activity would easily be able to follow your instructions. This section of the assignment should be titled “Procedure”.

4. Why do you think the barnacle research your group is conducting is important? How will this research benefit human and non-human communities in the Puget Sound estuary? Please be as specific as possible.

Mini-Assignment #17 (due 11.13)

Please brainstorm ideas for things in the Puget Sound region that could affect the feeding rate of barnacles. Think about our conversations surrounding water quality and environmental health in our watershed. The idea(s) you generate should be testable and appropriate. Your idea(s) should have the potential to be used in the design of your independent barnacle investigation next week. Record at least one idea and bring it to class on Monday (11.13).
